A music school in the ward of an old hospital
Originally, in the 18th century, the enormous ward that houses the current music school was part of the large General Hospital designed by José de Hermosilla and built by Francisco de Sabatini. Until the 1980s, it was the location of the clinical services of the School of Medicine and the Provincial Hospital, and was renovated extensively by the architect Cesáreo Iradier in the 19th century once the old hospital had disappeared. It has recently been refurbished and restored to house the Royal Conservatory of Music, respecting the simplicity of forms and volumes.
